Tom Tugendhat MP says the Afghanistan withdrawal has opened wounds for him and his fellow veterans. He told the Commons he has already spoken to the PM about strengthening mental health support for those impacted.

Parliament broke with tradition and gave Tugendhat a standing ovation after he concluded his speech, saying ‘this doesn’t need to be defeat, but it feels like it.’
