LeBron James and son make history as they play together in NBA

LeBron James and Bronny James have become the first father and son to play together in the NBA.

The basketball great stepped on court with his 20-year-old son in the LA Lakers’ season opener against Minnesota Timberwolves.

The pair got a huge ovation as they made history in the Crypto.com Arena.

They had about two and a half minutes playing together in the second quarter.

Bronny wasn’t able to score in his brief appearance but still got an ovation when he left the court with 1:19 left to play.

LeBron, the all-time NBA points record holder, is widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever.

More on Lebron James

The 39-year-old had long spoken of his ambition to share the court with his son – a second-round draft pick by the Lakers in June.

“That moment, us being at the scorer’s table together and checking in together, it’s a moment I’m never going to forget,” LeBron said.

“No matter how old I get, no matter how my memory may fade as I get older or whatever, I will never forget that moment.”

Bronny told the media: “(I) tried not to focus on everything that’s going on around me, and tried to focus on going in as a rookie and not trying to mess up.

“But yeah, I totally did feel the energy, and I appreciate Laker Nation for showing the support for me and my dad.”

Bronny had open-heart surgery last year after suffering a cardiac arrest and played a shortened freshman season at University of Southern California before entering the NBA’s draft – the annual pick of players.
