‘Play therapy’ helps children cope with the trauma and anxiety of hospital visits by involving them in playtime and games.

Health charity Starlight says access to ‘play therapy’ in hospitals has fallen since the pandemic, partly due to funding pressures, but also because of concerns about controlling infection.

Sky’s Emma Birchley met one three-year-old boy who used play as a distraction from his visit to Kingston hospital.
