Alleged killer attacks lawyer during court hearing

US

A woman accused of murder and mutilating a corpse has been pictured attacking her lawyer during a court hearing in the US.

Taylor Schabusiness appeared in court in Wisconsin on Tuesday when she lunged at her lawyer Quinn Jolly.

Mr Jolly had asked the judge in the case for an additional two weeks for a defence expert to review his client’s competency to stand trial.

When Judge Thomas Walsh reluctantly agreed to postpone her trial, Schabusiness attacked Mr Jolly and was wrestled to the courtroom floor by a security officer, local station WLUK-TV reported.

The courtroom in Green Bay was then cleared before the hearing resumed.

Schabusiness has been charged with first-degree international homicide, mutilating a corpse and third-degree sexual assault following the death of 25-year-old Shad Thyrion in February last year.

Authorities allege she strangled Mr Thyrion at a property in Green Bay, as well as sexually abusing him and dismembering his corpse, with his body parts left strewn throughout a house and a vehicle.

The 25-year-old defendant has pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $2m (£1.6m) cash bond.

The judge postponed the competency hearing to 6 March following Schabusiness’s courtroom outburst.

Mr Jolly told the court at the end of the hearing he would file a motion to withdraw from the case as Schabusiness’s lawyer, but the judge did not immediately rule on that matter.
